b-body ignition removal

b-body ignition removal

i have a new keyed ignition i would like to swap out for the old ratty one.how do i remove the old and replace the new. i have the keys for both.thanks guys

Best advice I can give you is read the shop manual.

but the page numbers do not follow the "dash" numbering, so you'll have to play with the page numbers in your viewer to find where you want

if it is in the column assuming it is a 70 you need to remove the steering wheel then the turn signal switch needs to be pulled up as well then remove the 4 screws securing the upper housing & slide it up out of the way & you will see a triangular plate holding the lock tab down , remove that plate & there is a small hole under the plate , use a pin punch & press down on the retainer & slide the lock out , the column can be reassembled & the lock just snaps in .
