440 engine

Hello all. I am new to the forum. I appreciate being able to join. I purchased a 1966 Polara project car a couple of years ago and it came with a 440 high performance motor that the individual was planning to put in the car. I have decided to go with a late model motor and transmission and therefore no long need the 440. It is an RB block and I believe it to be around a 1970-72 application. It is complete with oil pan, 4bbl intake manifold and exhaust manifolds. The motor is in good shape and turns freely. I have kept the cylinders lubed with fogging oil and it is in a dry condition on an engine stand in my garage.

I would like to ask the forum what value a motor like this has and the best way to market it?

Thanks

Kinda depends on what was done to it (performance parts, machine work etc), the going price can be anywhere from $500 to a couple of thousand.

For ease of sale, the best place to start would be local (Mopar) car clubs, meets or placing an ad at local speed shops.
Back in the day we used Buy Lines, I guess it might be "Craig's List", these days.

The year and if it's a HP block or not will make a large difference in value along with standard bore size or over bore. Sometimes a 440 is worth more in parts.

Engine

Thanks all for the feedback. I have no idea what has been done to the engine. It just seems like it is operable condition. I forgot to say that I have an electronic ignition distributor and plug wire set that goes with it. I think I would be happy to get $500 for it if it will benefit someone.

Thanks

Then list it with a picture and your price and location in parts for sale for best results.
