Car running hot after Sniper efi install

Hello everyone. Just had Sniper efi installed on my 69 GTX 440 stroker. When car went in it would run at 185 and only creep around 200 when idling for extended periods of time. Now a ten minute highway drive at 80 degrees and it’s pushing 210. Sniper is not controlling timing so no adjustment was made to timing on install. Only thing that was changed is they installed a 160 degree thermostat in place of my 180 and I’m not sure why. This shouldn’t cause the temp to run hotter than before though correct? Any ideas on why it would have come back running so much hotter? Nothing worse than staring at the temp gauge. Thanks

On the thermostat issue... A 160* will open at 160* and never shut (presay)... That in short is why you see it climbing faster....
Not sure your 180* is the fix at this point. Let me just move to the next point.... If the EFI sensors require a hotter water temp to function with the ECU of the EFI, It not getting all the rite into to adjust the proper amount of fuel. That in itself could be causing havik with you new edition.
My recommendation is to go over the installation information with a fine tooth comb and make sure those items are all in order first...
Then Address the cooling system to fit the engine size metrics needed to cool it.... Larger Aluminum Radiator Comes to mind along with a good water pump and a set of good pulleys. Oh and a high rated thermostat.... No lower Than 180*...

If you just go back to the 180*.... Try installing some "water wetter"... Mite help with that creeping...

Keep us posted.... Good Luck...

Just a thought. Running an engine lean could cause it to run hotter. More air relative to fuel means more oxygen than usual. The flame burns hotter and faster than it should. That could cause the engine to run hotter. The ideal air to fuel ratio is 14.7 to 1. Don't know anything about the Sniper EFI system. Can the A/F ratio be programed or is it possibly not getting the right signals back to the computer to make adjustments?

Make sure the EFI base gasket isn't leaking.
