Want to put a 5.2 from a Grand Cherokee in my truck. Now i heard all kinds of horror stories about the Jeep ecm's security system kicking in when the rest of the Jeep isn't around anymore.

Can i use ecm's from Dakotas/Durangos here?

 

What year, make model of truck? What motor does it have now?

 

Yes you can as long as the motor has what that ECM is looking for (which they all should). Just make sure its a 5.2 ECM from a Dakota, Durango or Ram.

 

I've been told it's "not the motor" it's the security system in the column stuff talking to the ECU. I've been told there's a company that (for money) will unlock them. Sorry I don't pay much attention to this. If I ever run into this, I'd likely put either Megasquirt or a Holley HP EFI ECU into the thing.
