Should I match the carburetor to the intake by casting#
I am looking to put the correct carburetor on an intake manifold I bought. I was hoping someone could tell me if I should be looking for a specific carburetor? The manifold is off a 340 and going on my 72 318. Stock cam with hei ignition (if I can ever figure out the wiring) and headers Thanks for the advice in advance

I wanted to make sure I had it running before I took the intake off and installed the 4 bbl

GM HEI's have the coil built into the distributor cap!
Not to sure what your dealing with at the moment to help or guide you in the rite direction?

This is what you are referring too?

If that is the case: All you need is a switched ignition source to the BAT on the cap.... And if your using the tach, Hook your tach signal wire to the TACH on the cap. Then you are ready to run...

box!! What box? Nobody said I needed a box. I bought these off eBay and am hating them trying to replace the old electronic ignition with this but I should have bought differently.

If this is the case: Then you only need to Hook the 2 wires to the coil fro the dist. And wire in the coil without any box....

Are you sure you have the Distributor Seated all the way down in the pocket hold? If so, then I would check to see if the shaft is bent, Also now check under the cap and make sure nothing has been damaged?
