Why carter AFB/AVS instead Edelbrock?
I've the following question of a phrase that almost always appears during the carburetor choice.
Why most of the people always recommend second hand Carters AFB / AVS over a new Edelbrock carburetor?
For example :Why will be better a 625 CFM Carter AFB / AVS over Edelbrock 625 CFM?

Because they are stuck in the sixties...And it is all a matter of opinion... A lot of guys on hear swear by Holley carbs others like Demon carbs. I run a Edlebrock carb on my car and the reason I got it was because it has been updated to handle ethanol fuel and it is simple to change the settings, metering rods, and there are no power valves to worry about.. And it works flawlessly...In a Nut Shell it is just different peoples opinions...Bill

There not the same style carb..... I feel the older stuff is easier to tune.
The New Eddys do not use the older parts to tune with.... There is also a limit to them and what they will flow.
I can Street tune ether or myself.... You just have to have a good understanding of how they all work..

But, doesn't is enough just changing the jets of the edelbrock for the correct size?
I had always thought that edelbrock bought the design rights to federal mogul and started selling the Carter AVS with the "Edelbrock" brand
