4 speed manual o/d transmission question

I have an '82 Dodge ram that is my unrestored daily driver . It presently has a slant six with the 4-speed manual overdrive transmission. I am contemplating a 318 swap but am wondering if it will be just s simple bolt up? I want to keep the transmission because I like it and it helps me get some type of decent milage. I just want a little more power and that V8 sound. Any help would be great.

Might check with Brewer Transmission and see if there might be an adapter for the trans swap. But other than that... No it will not fit the 318 bolt pattern as far as i know.

Here is a good source of info on all mopar 4 speeds, Brewers is a good choice and a 1 stop shop but a bit costly.. All of the parts needed can be sourced used if you want to save some money. Use the two sources for part numbers and then hit ebay. Big gotcha is that the O/D manual trans uses a very large front bearing retainer so the bellhousing is specific to that trans. A standard small block bellhousing will not work but all other 318 stuff will work. If you are scrounging junk yards remember that the 318/ OD setup was used in many vans and most people don't look there.
