727 Torqueflite Question

Anyone know what this plug is inside the bell housing just below the pump cover? Just pulled the pump to replace seals and noticed this plug which also looks to be leaking.

Never noticed it before. A helpful trick when installing the pump. Place a large elastic band around the outer seal that goes around the pump the night before you drop it in. The seal slips right in without folding over. It's worked good for me.

Thanks. I do a similar thing only I throw it in the freezer overnight as well. Helps keep the seal compressed until you drop the cover in.
