Anyone here running a Derale transmission cooling pan?

After recently installing a high stall converter, I soon realized my external cooler just isn't enough for daily driving.

I'm looking into either a larger RV cooler or a 2nd cooler to work with my current one, but while searching, I spotted one of these tube pan coolers on Amazon and I'm curious if they actually make much difference compared to my el cheapo deep pan from 440Source

Anyone here have one of these?

How High is the stall? Has the trans been over 300 or 400* Deg.???
Stalls do make the trans run hotter and build heat faster.....

Just keep in mind one thing..... "Whats my main operating RPM range"
That will help you figure out wear you need the convertor to be locked up at "Per say"

So if you have a 3000 rpm stall and your only running around at 1800 rpms... then its going to build lots of heat. Way to much slippage.....

Now if you drive it around at 3000 rpm all the time... Thats allot less slippage.

Note that there are other venerable....

Well, Saturday morning it was well into the 90's and super humid.

Took her around the block, made a single pass on the back road and got 190* on the temp gun at the cooler

Later that night, I installed a new tranny temp gauge.

The weather cooled off a bit and I decided to take a chance and make a run out to a new racing spot about 40 minutes away.

On the highway doing about 70'ish, the temps got up to 190-195, but actually stayed around 185 doing about 45mph

And yesterday, I made this video and she topped off at 185*

That being said, I still don't wanna take any chances on a hot day, so I'm still gunna do a cooler upgrade.

Ok, so Amazon screwed up my cooling pan order and sent it to the wrong address on Monday

That's what I get for trying to save a few bucks :banghead:

Got a refund and ordered another from Summit

In the meantime, I replaced the cooler with a larger one last night

Another fun ride with the Snake....I have only one question is that cord showing through on the left rear tire???? I see you are still putting money into your baby so I have to assume you have decided to keep the old girl...Nice install on the cooler...Temp gauge is critical when running a stall converter and the cooler is a given...Bill

Yes, the Sportsman Pros are done and I figured I'd give them one last romp and get some footage

My local Speed Shop is loaning me a set of 295/65/15 MT Street Radials for test fitting.

It's a full inch taller than the Sportsman Pros with a flatter contact patch, so I wanna make sure they don't rub before ordering a fresh set.

Should be on tomorrow.

She's still for sale, but while I have her, I'll continue to have fun with her

Thanks, I installed a new tranny temp gauge the same night the converter went in

It's a brand new build and I don't wanna take any chances while driving on the street, so I'm making a bullet proof cooling system that should be overkill on the hottest of Florida cruises :driving:
