borgwarner and 8 3/4 questions

Hey guys

Over here in Australia our Mopars have a light duty bw78 BorgWarner 25 spline diff set up. I am now at around 450 rwhp and starting to break axles. I have a couple of choices. I can install a truetrac which I think you call a Detroit locker. The one to fit my diff is a 28 spline and I will need to install billet axles. This way I will not have to change the diff. Here is a link

http://www.tuffcarparts.com/index.ph...roduct_id=1581

Or I have been offered a 30 spline 8 3/4 diff. It will be set up with the cone style lsd and gears I want. It will fit into my car with next to no modification and will have bigger drum brakes than my diff now and 1/2 inch studs where mine are 7/16 now. My only concern is the 8 3/4 diff is a very old set up and I don't know anything about them. Are they a great strong diff and is the lsd up to the task?

cheers

GO with the 8 3/4 but lose the cone diff unless it checks out.

thanks guys
I will look at the currie website but I am in Australia so shipping will kill it for me I think.
If the cone lsd doesn't check out what are my options

Kind of needs to fit the budget I would think? So think about the 8-3/4...
But it looks to me like their might be more parts for the ford 9" down under?
Not to sure what brands are being sold that you can get parts for easily?
If a Dana is acquirable? go that route...

I am not a ford fan but you might check into a 9" ford diff. Loads of aftermarket support

Not sure what is available down there, but the Ford 8.8 has become more available than the the 9" in the the state's I'd go with the 8.8 Ford.

That said , down under, if an 83/4 fits your hit and your budget, ride go for it!

I don't know why people don't like cones, I prefer them. Had a friend with 800 hp with trans brake drag race only car, at this level he started breaking 8 3/4" cases and regretted he didn't build a Dana from the start.

My concern with extreme use would be the length and the need for back bracing.
