tranny for a 52 Plymouth?

OK I got a 52 Plymouth Cranbrook with a 230 ci flathead six.

Is there any auto tranny that could be bolted to this motor without too much effort?

Thanks

I wish Morgan/Legs was here/ She'd be able to give you a defintite answer.

I doubt there is a way to swap in an auto without first swapping in a 31/340/360 LS motor first.

So anyone? Any ideas? The car is hard pressed to go over 50 without the engine sounding like it is redlining!

Here's my 2 cents, you should not have a problem doing 50 or better in that car with that eng. and std shift. You have another problem, my guess would a clutch that is slipping very badly causing the eng. to over rev.
An auto trans is not available for that year but there might be a semi auto, meaning one would shift thru the gears once and then be able to start from a dead stop in 3rd gear. MOPAR had these available for Chrysler & Desoto possible for Dodge also.

I have a '42 std shift and can go 50 mph without problem, have also done 70 but don't recommend that but you car should do it without problem
