what hp can an a500/42rh (904) trans handle safley?

Hey guys
I am currently running an A518/46rh trans behind my 360 magnum. It has 430rwhp so probably around 550 to 600 at the flywheel. It is just a stock A518 and handles the hp no problems.
I am putting the same engine in another car but want to run the A500 instead as they are easier to fit in the old cars. Does anyone know if these will be ok like the 518 is or will they need mods. I have contacted a few local transmission shops and half say yes and half say no.lol
I have never run a 904 before so not sure what they can handle?
cheers Maca

The concensous I've read from guys mostly over at FABO is that a 904 can indeed handle that kind of power. I would not expect it in "stock form" at least use aftermarket good quality bands. I'm not experienced enough to provide a shopping list. If you search over there there's a few threads on that
