today I was working on my 1977 dodge sportsmen RV. When I turned on the windshield wipers, power was lost and nothing happens when I engage the key. While looking for the problem, I discovered the ground wire on the ignition relay is pretty much toast, maybe held on by a thread. First off, could that be preventing any power getting to the system? If not, where should I be looking?
also, can I just run a ground wire from that terminal to the same spot on the fire wall that the battery is grounded at? Or make a new spot on the firewall? The green/ground wire is taped up in this bundle of wires. It would be a real plain to replace.
Always better to fix it the rite way.... Just my 2 cents...
I would only do what you are saying if I was stuck on the road and needed to get home..
All you do when just by passing it,,,, Its going to cost money down the road for the next time you take it to a shop to sort it out... Takes a lot more time and that adds up to paying more money.
So, I say replace the bad part or all of the wire, even if you just tape it to the outside of the wiring loom.
Best of luck.. Mopar On !!
No matter how hard it is... Fix it rite... Cheers
