What are you running for a motor, tranny and gearing in the rear axle? that will help determine the tire size. As far as which tire to go with, I have heard good things about the Micky Thompson sreet drags.

It has 318 auto disk I don’t know the gears its all stock its not fast or anything but last car I built I wish I would have done a before and after 1/4mi to see the amount of time i picked up with the amount of work did. Getting the 18's to tuck was hard and took too much of my time-money and for sure could tell a diff with the heavy rim and the height makes the gear ratio drop. Would like to make a pass on 15in tires to be fair and avoid the stress if some one can help me with the offset or maybe a set up that works well
thanks yawl

What many people don't understand, The size of the wheel(rim) doesn't make any difference on gears or speedo. The overall size combination of wheel and tire is what makes things change. You can go with an 18 instead of the stock 14 and just get a lower profile tire (shorter sidewall) and everything stays the same (mathematically) I just think the old school look with 15's or maybe 16's and a bigger tire looks right on an older car. I don't care for the "all rim and no tire" look on vintage cars.

Ps, from a southern boy, it is Ya' all, (not yawl) "welcome!

Steve is right about the wheel size. The only benefit of a larger wheel/rim with the same size tire is that the tire sidewall will be smaller allowing for less roll and better handling. Not a lot better, but it may be noticable.
