Nice !!!! Good Progress !! Looks like you got a few other items sorted out? LineLock installed? Fitting some hoses, Throttle Assembly?
From this view, it looks like that steering shaft might could use 1 more support?
Mounted radiator and fan and have body just sitting on chassis. It’s a 1966 Mustang 289 rad, will buy a nice aluminum one that should bolt right in when we can afford one.
I missed this its looking like a race car here.
If your thinking about painting your frame I would use a black Industrial epoxy primer and then maybe a cote of black paint. Two coats of the primer over a lightly sandblasted frame will give you years of service and look good doing it. The product I use comes in gray and white also.
Steering Shaft - Yes, additional 3/4 rod end going on down near rack. Starting to get busy in front, having trouble routing fuel line, filter and pump. We'll get it but it's like genius idea then oh that's in the way of the other thing and we have to find a spot for the other other thing. Everything looks good on paper or in thought until you put it together and conflicts arise. Normal.
You could not believe how happy Shawn is, he's a 29 yr old man that is acting like a little kid. I really didn't know how much this meant to him, a childhood dream to have a viper, a viper drag car is better and he thought probably wouldn't happen in his life time. I helped to make this happen which as a father gives me great satisfaction.
It’s nice the way tube placement fits the door without having the car when building it. We talked about it and to start the rear wing will come off and the 14” extended front end will be cut down to stock length to have stock wheelbase. I need to make an expected alteration to the A pillar tube as it has a bend that matched the Corvette. I’ll need to redo the wishbone and anti-roll bar mounts which is not a big deal. Biggest thing is tipping the four link mounts forward to match the shorter four link bar mounting hole radius. So a little more fun for me. I sat in the car with the body on and it’s real cozy in there.
Got the body mocked up and ready to add permanent mounting and proper door hinges and latches. I will be cutting out the long X brace in the back as it’s not needed with moving the shock mounts forward. Had to do some wango tango at the A pillar as the Viper is different than the Corvette. Cut out part of the drivers X to swing it out for easier in and out. Looks like I can get a 42” wheelwell in the back. Shawn says he wants to paint it gold with black stripes or candy red.
That's some easy glass work over the rear tires, it's sure nice seeing the Viper body going on the project. I would think good for a little inspiration also.
Something probably not thought of but if you go looking for any sponsors having late Viper body apposed to your previous plans will help.
Thanks, never thought of the sponsorship in that way, it will be unique and probably draw attention. Made up some door latches, Shawn was so happy he gave me a hug, a little unexpected for this Dad but nice.
With paint so expensive you might want to consider wrapping the body. Just do your bodywork and block work paint the jambs black and have it wrapped in your favorite hues.
Just replaced and a motor, but not to worried about parts. A division of our company repairs them, so they come through our shop once in a while.
This one was in for repair while the customer bitched to Power Wheels about it so they shipped them a new one, paid us for the repair then told our vice-president to scrap it or get rid of it.
It's in good shape and they sell this in Canada for 400-450.00 dollars, I think that's like 5 bucks in America.
I looked into a ride on for my grandson for his fifth birthday and I got him a peddle cart made by Berg. It's for ages 5 - 8 and he's 8 now and just took it around the block a dozen times. At $300 I thought it was salty but I have a 4 year old a two year old and a 8 month old grandsons. I don't think that all of them will where it out.
Cut out the unneeded tubing to get the big tire in. Everything looks okay and the wheelie bar mounts will work as is. Big tire on the left little tire on the right.
