I suppose you all can guess what my problem is from the title. I have a bad booster on a '78 D-150 Club cab with a 400. I need to keep the truck drivable (plus with my luck a rebuilder might sell mine out to "the highest bidder"). So: does anyone have an available core? No? Then can anyone refer me to a readily-available "substitute" that can replace mine with a minimum of fuss and butchery?
And does any way exist to increase this #%&@ XX Small font size . . ?

Call these folks and see if they can help, with a replacement or rebuild your old one…

Thanks, Racer. I have already contacted Cardone; they are always "going to have some available at the end of the month", but they never do. I'm certain that, if they ever actually manage to get some cores to rebuild, they go to their retailers instead of individual retail customers. Originally Posted by RacerHog

I have been fighting this battle for so long that I think that I have exhausted every resource out there; for whatever reason, there seems to be a shortage of booster cores for other makes and models as well.
And I have been ripped-off when trying to buy a core (which probably never existed) via mail order from a place that calls itself CitiYard in Columbus, GA. Avoid this place at all costs!

When I was searching for a brake booster for my 81, I tried numerous places, but what eventually worked for me was setting up a stock alert at rockauto. I got a text when they had some stock, immediately hopped on and ordered one.
