engine swap on a 1992 ram 150

Hello folks im new to this site. I bought a 1992 Ram 150 with a 3.9 v6 engine. Its a 4x4 5 on the floor unit. I want to swap the engine out and put a 318 engine in it. I was wondering what dose a person have to do to make it work.

Go to scrap yard find an identical model truck with 5.2 or 5.9 and pull the engine and all the stuff you think you might need. Most yards will mark everything you take and let you return any leftovers such as the 3.9 engine.

Depending on your plans you may need to upgrade your trans also. Change the computer ? If you do this I would look for a 318 Magnaum motor to swap- better heads & roller cam

Tranny should be changed as well. The V6 motors for a very light duty tranny behind them (AX15 I believe for that year) and won't last long behind a V8. You'll want tu pupgrade that to a nv4500 or what ever automatic was behind the V8 motor you plan on swapping in.
