413 to 440 swap

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a 58 custom royal running a 413 rb motor. The block has major cracks in it and needs replacing. The crank in the 413 has an 8 bolt flange that bolts directly to the torque converter on cast iron casing 727. I'm looking at a 440 motor that has a 6 bolt flange. I've been told the 413 crank will go straight into the 440 to make it compatible. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is this possible? Thanks.

Block has cracks in it?

Where?

Check bore and stroke on Wikepedia.

If stroke is same it might fit.

Is the 440 just a parts engine?

I would just get a later tranny and swap whole thing.

Save 413 drivetrain in garage under a tarp.

edit:Actually what your asking is not done very often.

A 413 crank should fit a 440 block but you are going to need to balance the rotating assembly unless the 440 rods and pistons weigh the same as the 413?
