Ignition Problems
Hi there, I was wondereing if anybody could offer some help.I have a 1988 dodge ram 50 and the only way it will stay started,is if I hold the key on,as soon as I let go of the key the truck stalls.I already replaced the ignition switch(thinking that was the problem)but that wasnt the problem.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

the only thing I can think of is the ballast resistor is bad, but your truck may not have one of those. Any way, you are not getting any juice to the coil in the ign/run position of key switch. Leave the key in the "run" position and check for voltage at the coil first (the pos side). NO juice, start tracing the ign circuit from the coil backwards.
