Leaky tranny pan gasket.

Hey guys, what's the best way to seal a leaky 727 gasket? I've tried the cheap rubber ones ... no luck. The pricey moroso rubber ones... no luck. I have a chrome trans-dapt aftermarket pan that I suspect may be my problem. But I may try a cork gasket with some sealant first. I just don't want to suck any sealant into my valve body.Have any of you tried this with success ??

x2. I use that one. Before you do, drop the pan and put it on the flange and check it for being warped. Ive chased my tail a time or two trying to seal something that was out of shape..

NAPA had the metal reinforced like the MP one with a filter for 42 bucks last time I did mine. Pricey but I dropped it several times to add a temp sending unit and still no leaks.

No gasket. Use permatex the Right Stuff gasket maker. It will seal that chrome pan and it won't suck in.

X2 on the Right Stuff. Put it on my F250 tranny with no gasket and no leaks. I thought it was kind of expensive but works great.

Ok, seems like a no brainer, but once you're sure the pan is straight, torque the bolts to spec. I had leaky valve covers for a freakin' decade. Then one day I broke out the torque wrench and no more leaks.

You can buy it in smaller quantity and make sure you come back and report your outcome.

Hey Fellas, No luck with "the right stuff". I laid a bead around the inside and outside edges of the pan and it's still leaking but in a different spot now.I bought the cheapy steel pan cause' it had a drain plug. I think i'll switch back to the stock pan and use the nice Moroso gasket i have. The stock pan definitely feels more sturdy than the chrome cheapy. I think the stocker was stamped from heavier gauge steel.Hopefully it will work out. Thanks again for your suggestions.

are you sure its the pan gasket
it could be the o ring at the dipstick tube or the seals at the gear selector / pressure shaft
these leaks can appear to be from the pan gasket these leaks are very difficult to see so pay close attention at these areas also check the speedo o rings jst look for the oil trails

your welcome
the reason i mention this is i had a similar problem turned out to be the selector shaft seals they didn't make a large leak trail they just puddled up on the pan edge and bolts and in my vehicle with the b&m shifter cable bracket i could barely see the trail of oil down the side of the trany. but cool hope it works out for you if it turns out to be the seals i ve got a cool way to change out the seals in the vehicle
