Off to the track

again tomorrow night. This time with a 3.55 gear ratio in the rear end.

The stall is still there when I mat it so I will have to take off with a limited throttle until she rolls a little bit. I'm starting to think that maybe the 605 cfm carb is a little bit much (to much air) for the motor.... but I'm just grabbing at straws.

I do think we will have a noticeable improvement in times with the new ratio.
I'm really stoked up, I wanted to get a line lock installed but it seemed every night
this week something was going on and I did not get it done.

The real fun will be watching my sons face when he drives the truck down the track this time,
it really roars now and I think he will dig it a lot!

Back with the Time Slips (and trophy ) late tomorrow.

Joe.

Awesome! I can't wait to see some pics/videos. Those 3.55 gears will really help out.

As far as the carb goes, have you tried installing another one. You say that you are getting too much air. Could you be getting too much gas? You'll need to look at the plugs to find out.

X2 - Run it the way it is. If anything, I would install a traction device (sure grip) before the line lock.

Cam change?!?!?! You'll gain nothing from that. Now with twin turbos we're starting to get somewhere. LOL!

Hey Joe, good luck and I see the "drug" is already getting in your system... Drag racing is more of an addition than another illegal drug you can find.... And its more expensive!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the delay, the heat and my scanner is to blame.

All and all it was a better performance but nothing like what I was hoping for.

First, my sons interest is dwindling fast, last night he did not even care of he ran the car or not

But beyond all that... the truck still really stinks off the line and will never be competitive until that is fixed. I don't have anyone to ask for a carb to just swap out to see if that's the trouble... oh well we'll see.

We did gain approximately 5 miles per hour which in a 1/8 of a mile is nothing to sneeze at I guess. Here is a link to a few of the Time Slips and some pictures.

I'm #34 in the left lane on all three of the slips.

My best time was 11.107, best speed 66.947, best reaction .329
The only race I ran in I was disqualified for jumping the gun -.12 sec.

Rome wasn't built in a day, right. We'll keep at it.

As far as I know it's just a 1/8 of a mile. Meaning to say its actually probably 1/4 mile long but the rest of it is for slowing down and is not timed.

Those runs last night and my son's attitude have really taken the wind out of me today.

Oh just the "if it's Dad's thing, it aint mine" which I think is typical for some kids his age, just turned 15. Although I can't think of one thing I would have rather done at his age than drag racing a car, so go figure.

I started another thread with a ? about the AFB carb, my gears are still spinning
