GEN 1 392 OIL PAN GASKETS
I JUST PICKED UP A HOT ROD THAT HAS A 1958 392 HEMI. I NEVER OWNED A OLD HEMI AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE OIL PAN, ITS DENTED, WITH A STOCK OIL PAN. IS THERE A ONE PIECE GASKET SET THAT I CAN USE TO HELP WITH ALIGNMENT AND PREVENT ANY LEAKING? DO I USE A CORK OR RUBBER GASKET AND HOW DO I SEAL, ON THE BLOCK SIDE ONLY OR BOTH SIDES,? I GUESS A RTV SEALANT IS GOOD OR SHOULD SOMETHING ELSE BE USED. ALSO THINKING ABOUT THE WINDAGE TRAY FROM HOTHEADS, THE MOTOR IS STOCK BUT THEY CLAIM WILL FREE UP SOME HP. I REALIZE THIS IS PRETTY EASY FOR MOST BUT I JUST WANT TO DO ONCE IF CAN. THANKS

I have no idea why you are using all caps but that's considered yelling on forums. So why are you yelling at us?

Mopar Fanatic
Cork has always been a good choice for oil pan gaskets. Cork swells and seals well and after tightening to specs it's able to be retightened later. Never overtighten! I've used a light smear of silicone high temp and never had a problem. Mopar used just silicone on their rearend covers and it worked well. I'm not saying for you not to use a gasket. If you have a windage tray why not use it, it can only help. Have fun!!
