Carter Thermoquad: Convert choke to manual?

Has anyone done a conversion from the electrical choke mechanism to manual?

If so, I would be interested to hear what you did.

Sorry to revive a nearly year old thread guys, but how did you make out with the manual conversion Phil? I need to do the same thing and wondered how it worked for you. Also a quick question for you Bob, was the screw that you used also from Dorman?

No.. It came in a Choke kit some years back.. And I'll be darned if i can remember what that kit was... However If you pull the screw.... Re-figure what size the treads are.... Add some nuts.... Grind them down to the bracket size... I'm sure it would work like a charm....

Wanting to convert my thermo quad to manual choke as well.

Pulled the screw and measured the diameter-7/64 with 40 thread per inch. Tried a different screw with the same dimensions and something is still different, screw didn't freely thread in and didn't want to force it for fear of damaging the threads. Still haven't been to able remember where the screw is from?
