Choke Thermostat help.

Question Choke Thermostat help.

Just wanted to know if I could swap my Choke Thermostat assembly for an Manual Choke? I dont think mine is workin correctly.

Part #'s:
- Holley 6680 80
- 6841 Choke Control

Sure you could, but why if you don't have to.

First check the auto choke, see where the butterfly on the carb is when dead cold, s/b almost closed, then see where it is when hot (operating temp), s/b wide open.

If not, there's usually an adjustment dial or bending the butterfly rod will correct the problem. If the thermostat isn't working, make sure it's connected and replace if necessary.


Next do you really need a choke.
Sorry, but you didn't give any info about your car. On a modified motor with a big carb, the "choke" is your right foot. I stopoed using a choke years ago, and have yet to have a problem starting and running with "foot control..."

K, its a sb 318 stock heads, 360 intake, reman holley 2bbl carb.
When the engine is cold & hot,, butterfly opened. If I closed the butterfly when runnin the idle is high and bout dead when opened.

Recheck the rebuild sheet for the proper adjustments....
