High volume oil pump
High volume oil pump
Looking for opinions on running the Melling M63HV oil pump on a lightly modified 65 383. I'm concerned that it might swamp the top end and won't return fast enough. I'm assembling the engine now and have it on there but it's not too late to change back to a stock or maybe the HP. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok.... The problem comes "In the short Statement" If your going to run the stock oil pan, its a bad idea. The H.V. pump can do what you said and pull all the oil out of the oil pan and put it all up stairs..
If you going to be running RPM allot of the time, then you use them for that kind of a combo. Just be careful, not saying not to use it. But if this is more of a daily drive, I would go with a more high Pressure than a High volume pump.
Just my point of view.

I was just thinking when I bought it that I wanted more volume but when o started putting it together I had second thoughts. I'm running a stock size pan and will mostly be cruising with an occasional high rpm to shake out the cob webs and have some fun maybe I should go with a stock or HP. Thanks
