Hey guys, I'm building a 440 for my Polara, I ordered this set of pistons:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sl...5f/application .030 over and this set of rings: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sl...0/applications. My question is what do I do for ring gap?

There should be info with the rings as to the required ring gap Or look it up on their web site
says standard ring gaps look in the service manual. don't have one handy

this may not what fit your application but it is out a 1967 cnrysler factory paper service manual. 440 Ring Gap compression .013"-.023". Oil -Steel Rails .015"-.055" i am not up on even if steel rails are still used. hope this helps.

 

You need to go by what the piston / ring manufacturer says, as some designs (I'm not into some of this newer stuff) are different than what the shop manual may have originally said

 

You have to go by what pistons you buy.... The MFG. will have a finished bore size for there pistons... Then you can set the ring gap by there information...

 

Racerhog is correct. The piston to wall clearance and piston ring gap information will come with the pistons.

 

Thanks guys, I'll check that out, said nothing about end gap in the piston box though.
