904 transmisson

Does anyone know where you can buy a (complete) built 904 transmisson for a 360 SB to handle 450-600 HP with a 2800-3000 RPM stall speed??? Any help would be appreciated...I cant find 904s only 727s...Bill

You can try these guys.

To put 600 hp through a 904 will cost you. Also, they are reknowned for a weak case in the pump area.

For the cost of a driveshaft, I would go 727 hands down!

The only reason I wanted to stay with the 904 is it has a lower first gear and weighs alot less...You also have to change the flexplate, driveshaft, trans. mount, I believe...Bill

As far as the Transmisson goes I am going to try the 904 and see what happens if it cant take it Ill get a 727 from one of these builders and put that in...This is not a track car just a summer driver but if someone tries to play/challenge, I want to be on level playing field...In other words I dont like to lose to the other brands... Which is what is more popular here than not.. Mopar makes better HP then compairable other brand, hands down...I also love to here the excuses and the crying...Have you ever tried to outrun a Tornado (Duster/Twister)???Lol...Bill

The other thing "I hear" about a 904 s that you can MOST probably build them strong enough to stay together, AND they don't seem to suffer from the heavy parts explosion problem of the 727 sometimes have

I heard the same thing esp. when using the Cheetah Manual Valvebody...They say the burnout has to be in 2nd gear or when you upshift in that burnout it could cause serious damage,Only in the 727..I dont need to do power brake burnouts anyway this car is so light it spins like nothing anyway...So you have to be careful...Bill
