I have a 1936 dodge truck I purchased with a 426 hemi backed with a 833 4sp. The owner passed and I purchased it from his son. He said something happened on the transmission and it's sat since 2012. We pulled the transmission and the pressure pate was broke. Also the end of the input shaft that slides in the crank looks like it's been all the way up against the crank. I believe it has to short of a bell housing on it. Does anyone know the distance that the input shaft should be sticking out passed the end of the bell housing? Any help would be greatly appreciated
I would Check with the Brewers Folks.... Sounds like you found 2 problems that really need fixing.... Keep us posted... We mite have a couple of suggestion for you if you cant figure it out or ge the rite answer... http://www.brewersperformance.com/
The first thing to check is to make sure the bellhousing is correct for the hemi engine you have. The bell housing stamped number should be 2780512 and the flywheel should be 172 tooth. Also check the casting number on your trans, early casting #2466416 and later casting #2801176. This might help identify what you have before you spaek with Brewar's. I have my hemi engine out right now so I can't answer your question. But Brewar's Performance should be able to answer your question. Also the throw-out bearing (see photo attached) is "shorter" on the hemi with the A833 trans than other engines. The Hemi set-up is unique. Good luck, sounds like the truck would be a screamer!
