The engine should be back soon, so I decided to do a little plumbing. The fogger kit is now installed. the jet sizes are 39 and 37. According to NOS and Nitrous express this should make 400 to 440 horsepower. This is a lot of bending and cutting tubing. Everything is roughed in and I still need to take it all apart and seal everything (locktite and teflon). I decided to take a pic before it all comes back apart.
It is sitting on some blocks with the valve covers at the right height and angle so that it all fits when the engine is installed.

A couple teaser pictures. I was in the garage today, I finished up the intake. Everything was dis-assembled, blue locktited, sealed tightened, aligned, and I had nothing better to do so........
I thought, 'wonder how it's going to look under the hood? So I grabbed a couple broom handles and....

Monitoring fluids is always important, but not running lean is extreemly important in a Nitrous engine. A lean condition can make a virtual cutting torch inside the engine and fry it in a couple seconds. Fuel gages had to be added to montor fuel pressure at various engine speeds and RPM's at different times/conditions. There are several options. I could use remote pressure units and electric fuel pressure gages. There were basically two reasons I didn't like this idea. First, I believe mechanical is more accurate, Second the price for that set up is outrageous (and I need two)
I elected to mout these on the hood. We looked at the cowl, but the plumbing and wiring was an issue. the hood made the most sence. There are two because I need to monitor both the nitrous fuel system and the engine/carbs system. There are two separate systems from the two fuel pumps all the way forward.

Have you ever seen inside a late model hemi head? Here is mine with oversize valves. Don't bother looking to buy these, they don't make them. These were custom made for this engine. The ports have been worked a lot, and the seats have been cut well. Not many people get to see the inside of these heads so I thought I would post these up.
Here is a picture of the assembled block before the heads go on. The guy in the picture is Scott. He is the machinist performing this miacle. You can also see how domed these are compared to stock.

Nice spring relocation, nice job man, nice fab work. She's a mean lookin' Mopar.
What size are those valves?...hahaha and what cc are the combustion chambers, thats wild lookin.

One more question, Did it start life as a 69 ? I was just wondering about the grill in the original before pic. It went from rectangle park lights to round..just curious.

It started life as a 6cyl automatic 1967. Many will argue that a '67 cannot be converted to a '68. It can. Tail lights were changed, grill and headlight rings were changed, Side markers were added. The sidemarker lights were added to the rear quarters only for a specific reason. In 1968 when Hurst did the Hemi conversions on these darts, a fiberglass front end was added with hood and fenders. the front marker lights were never converted over to the fiberglass front fenders. So, to add to the illusion, I left the front fenders blank without the front/side marker lights. also the white interior was switched to the '67 blue. A-100 Van seats were used as in the factory superstockers.

It got tagged as an antique while it was a slant six. With antique tags in Delaware there are no more inspections just pay every year for my tags. It is going to be street driven. With the 4.57:1 gears it wont cruise fast.
I am going to pick up the long block (block with the heads installed) Friday!! Only a little time and it will be back in one piece!

727 with a manual valve body. It is a reverse shift pattern meaning it goes, P-R-N-1-2-D shifting away from reverse and neutral. the 727 is also set up with a trans brake. I'll be launching the car ~3800 off the transbrake. May be kind of violent.

interesting..ive seen a handful of the most violent eruptions from transbraked 727s...ive been running a footbraked 727 with a 4000 stall and a forward manual body for a few years, and i wouldnt go to a transbrake, as it is SO hard on the drivetrain, but im not launching a 1000hp car...
what shifter are you using? cheetah?
by the way, in looking back through the pics, this is the one that really stands out as being a wicked looking drag car..
maybe its the fact that the rear tires are 10 times wider than the fronts..maybe its the chute..
