Valve questions
I also have a 225 slant 6 (3.7 liter) and mine ticks as well. From what I have heard from people, is that it is normal. I say if it didn't come from the factory like that, its not normal. It could be a sticking lifter or a worn out spring. I think come winter time, I will be pulling the head off and having mine gone through completely. I will also inspect the lifters.

the early slant 6 motors have mechanical lifters. i don't know if the recent ones are too.
the valve lash is adjusted with the nut on the rocker arm. 95% or more never get adjusted unless the head comes off. they must be adjusted with the engine thoroughly warmed up. i like to restart the engine every 5 minutes until done.
the specs should be available online. the exhaust valve gap is larger to allow for expansion. don't expect to eliminate the 'clack' completely. if the valves are set too tight you will burn the valves.
