90 318 High RPM at idle

Recently resealed a 90s 318 in my 85D100. New gaskets all around. It was fuel injected and swapped to carburetor. Got everything wired back up and installed back into the truck. Set at TDC before firing up the first time...started at about 900rps and sounded very good...but as the motor warmed up its incresing RPMs. Ran about 5-10 mins and got up to about 1800-2000 idel rpm..should idle about 800rpm i do believe. Need some help. Thinking i need to fine tune the timing and that would help. But another thing is i had to delete the charcoal canister. It was junk, and cannot find a replacement. Had all the lines from it sealed and i havent really seen or noticed any vacuum leaks... being my first ever build, im at a loss and need pointed in the right direction..have a couple videos if i can figure out how to post them i will. To me it seems like timing or high fuel mixture..running a mechanical fuel pump..any advice is greatly appreciated!
