the positive seal should go on the intake , 1 you do not want oil contamination in the incoming air flow & 2 the intake runs cooler & needs less lubrication & 3 you have vacuum around the intake valve , the umbrella is exhaust , the valve is subjected to more heat , expands more & is under pressure

You can use a positive seal on both valves as pictured above

And what about valve stem seals where "the valve guides needs machining" ? What kind of seals are these ?

To use the PC seals usually the valve guide needs to be machined for them

the factory type posititve seals in the pix do not need the guide machined down , the aftermarket seals are usually smaller diameter to fit inside dual or tripe springs & do require the guide to be machined down , usually at the point where you go to dual springs the lift on the cam is enough that the guide needs to be shortened as well

Please bare with me, Ive never been on a forum before ever.
my intention is to ask more about these seals. I have a Fel-Pro kit containing 3 different styles of valve seals with 8 of each style. I would ask from left to right, which seal is the appropriate for which valve? Thank s for your time and guidance.

Welcome to the forum, sorry I can't help with the seals I haven't used stock type seals in forty years so I'm rusty...
Next time start your own thread with your questions, thanks.

The left two are options for the intake valve and the far right one is for the exhaust valve.... Most folks now use a newer style valve stem seal...
Welcome to the site... and like Iowan said, you can start your own trend and get more newer response's. Cheers
