I guess we'll start from scratch. The distributor only goes in 2 ways with a slot on the bottom. It will not run 180 off. You're placing your timing light conductor clamp on the first wire (spark plug) closest to the battery on the driver's side. If using a timing light that has advance for total timing, place it on zero and first set the timing to factory specs. Total advance timing at 2000=2500 rpms should be around 34 degrees.
