727 problems
Ive got a 727 for my 440 and i have a few issues with it. it slips in reverse if i give it more than a little tap on the gas. It also slips in second and third when im in drive but not first. i can shift it into 2nd manually and it wont slip at all. Im thinking I need to do a complete rebuild but can anybody tell me if its just the bands or governor needing to be adjusted? ive checked the fluid level and it right where it should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My manual troubleshooting guide says low line pressure (worn pump), rear servo malfunction or worn (do pressure test), governor malfunction or governor sealing rings worn.
There are a few other possibilities but each one points to pressure losses due to wear. No quick fix here me thinks.

as these trannies get old they suffer from worn parts what color is your fluid , did you just change it?
have you adjusted the bands ?
if its clean thats ok but i am very sure that the valve body is filled with friction material so that s blocking small bleeds and passages
also the rubber seals start to harden and they don't seal
and the valve's are worn
so get ready for a rebuild.
Thanks for the input guys. I do have the kickdown hooked upand last time I checked the fluid was starting to get dark. i was planning on rebuilding it anyway so im not too disapointed. i just changed the fluid less than 500 miles ago and I have not adjusted the bands.
Thanks a lot man! im guessin its 4.10 maybe? It tops out at around 100. Its the stock 8.25 because i havent gotten a 3rd member for the 8.75 I want to put in yet. she definitly gets up and hauls *** though! I just wish my tranny would work like it should. Then she would really scream!
rebuilding a trany is not that hard get a service manual snap ring pliers a pick few trays clean uncluttered work area bench top
