Need Advice

Hello

I'm new to the forum and the Mopar engines and am looking for some advice. I have an opportunity to purchase a 69 Dart and the owner states that the engine was just rebuilt with the following.

440 ENGINE
STAGE 5 HEADS
6 PACK RODS

Is this a good build for a 440? Majority of the time would be just weekend street driving, but I would take it to the drag strip for some runs once in awhile.

Thanks

That's not alot of information to determine if its a good build. So far I personally wouldn't be interested, but what I like and what you may like might be total opposites.
I like fast Mopars...real fast. The little bit of information you provided strikes me as a low 13 sec at best car. That would put this car on the stock GT dinner menu.
Buy it only IF it fits what YOUR plans are!

Thanks for your opinion. Thats what I was worried about. Im definitely looking for more than a 13 sec car.

The only other information I have been able to get is it has a Steel Crank.

The 440's have major potential. So while it may not be up to par on the power level yet, If you don't mind spending some bucks you could stroke it. 600 HP is easily obtained with a good set of heads and will work wonders on that car. With the right set up you could easily be in the 11's.

Don't discredit the Dart completely. I think it has some serious potential if its in good shape with a solid transmission and rearend. Got any pics or any other information about it?

Any suggestions for a good set of heads, and any other upgrades or changer to make to the 440.

The car is incredible condition. Its been built as a street/drag car. Everything on the car, paint, undercarriage, and backend are brand new.

Stage 5 heads should be fine. The 6 pack rods ???? they are heavy would not be my first choice

Thats really not just enough info...

440 Block is good.... Race block is better....

Stage 5 makes good hemi heads that fit on top of the 440 blocks... If thats what it is?

6 Pack rod are heavy.... There safer rotating asm. out there to be had...

For me it's hard to say what your getting on that part....

Paint looks good... Hate the COWL hood

Car looks good. Definitely looks more strip than street. I'd be curious to know how "streetable" the car is? Does it overheat on warm days on the streets? Compression ratio, rear gearing... How bout time slips from the owner?

If you're looking for a "Weekend Warrier" this may fit the bill.

Ask the owner if he/she built the motor or if a shop did and you would like to see receipts for everything that was done to and put into the motor.

Either the owner will have everything and be more than happy to show you or they kept nothing and are hoping that you believe them.

I have these heads, and it would deff. be a much faster car than 13sec. with stage v hemi heads. i'm sure he meant stage v mopar perf. after market heads. and i'm betting this car is faster than 13.sec...... I have a cuda with a 383 that runs low 12's all day long, with factory open chamber heads mildy self ported and hydrolic cam.

That's a photo of a full on drag car. You can see the full halo cage, lexan windows, slicks etc.

It will not be an easy to drive/or easy to convert to, a street car.

The engine is probably something they dropped in to replace the race engine, for the sale.
