Good Morning Mopar Friends !!!!!
Good Morning Mopar Family,
Hope you are doing well ??? Not much to report on. Mostly working on Brand-X stuff.... My old 1977 Dodge Warlock 360 has a Stuck Piston Ring in one cylinder !!!!! Not sure how that happened????
I put some oil additive in the fuel and also in the crankcase. My hopes is that is will unstick a gummed or varnished piston ring? Will have to give it some miles and see?
Will report back if it works or not. I am not to much of a snake oil kind of guy, I am more of a just pull it apart and fix it. But being that its my daily driver, I will have to wait and see if this works or not. If not I'll buy a little beater car and put the old Dodge up on stands and get to doing some surgery on it. It is due for a good going threw anyway. So will see how this pans out in the next few months.
Other than that... Its the Same old, Same old....
Oh and one other note. The miss seems to be mostly at idle? Off Idle you don't notice any missing? Also, When you perform a Compression test is not consistent? as in One time it will be 80psi, the next time it will be 60psi, the next time is will be 120psi...Only time it will act consistent is when you add about 2 squirts into the cylinder with a oil can. then the compression is 130PSI to 125PSI for 4 or 5 tests... That's what leaded me to believe it has a stuck piston ring...
Jump in if you have any thought or ideas.... Cheers
And Remember to have a good day / and If I can do it, You can do it....

Bob I bought my 77 in 86 with 70k ish miles on it, it had been driven in town very short trips since new. Now I lived ten miles from my shop with most of it highway miles so the old Dodge got fully warmed up and a little RPM. After a couple days I checked the oil to find the dipstick pushed to the bottom of the hood and the hood was a small oil slick. After looking things over I found a oil leak at the back of the intake so I pulled it and found so much sludge you could literally see an imprint of the intake manifold in the lifter Valley. We cleaned out all that we could get including pulling the oil pan then running a quart of ATF in the oil I never got the rings to free up. I ended up parking the truck for a couple of months and installing new fenders and box side’s and giving it a new cote of color so we rebuild the 360.

Cool That sounds fun... My buddy just bought a small scale Steam Locomotive he's trying to get up and running.... Got the boiler fired off last week, but we found a few more issues with it and are in the prosses of getting them fixed... we need to pick up a few specialty tools that is needed to work on a few things...

Howdy Mopar fam. Finished another 4.0L rebuild, for a WJ this time. A bit different than the XJ 4.0. Been getting some miles on the bike and not much work happening on the projects. Training for a trip next month, 6 days of climbing at the needles of Rushmore. Should have some good photos from that trip. Hope you get to feeling better Bob, Had covid about a month ago. 4 days of fever and then just an energy drain for about 2 weeks afterward. Selling the XJ and ZJ to get a JL and start the process over again...not going quite so over the top this time. Just need a camping rig that doesn't beat me up going down the highway. Let me know if you know someone who might be interested. Looking for $10K for XJ, not sure on ZJ.
That IS good news!
My wife and son are headed out to Scotland tomorrow morning. Our 29 year old son, Tim, just returned from South Korea Monday. Tim is an Experimental Nuclear physicist. He travels abroad often, at least once a month, to speak at international conferences about his ongoing research project. He's speaking in Scotland next week and invited my wife to go with for 10 days. My wife's grandmother is a Maclean and from the Isle of Mull. They have a tour scheduled to go to the island and stay overnight and visit her clans castle there. I will stay home and wrench on the MOPAR!

Hey Bob I’m about 60 miles from the track how many times will I need to stop and fill my tank with E-85? It holds 16 gallon’s.
None it you have a trailer to put behind that old dang Ford you Drive.... Hahahahahahaha
However if you tune it rite... Only two fill ups....
You should race more often...
Cheers

I’m going to drive the Plymouth to the track, I went from 300 ish to 280 ish duration @.050 to help fuel mileage and I will be trying gears in the 4.10 to 4.56 range instead of the 4.88s I have now. The Volare has always been good for about 4 mpg on race fuel. I’m a little worried about the E-85 mileage.

Yea it’s been on the dyno back to back race gace / E-85, if I remember correctly the Hp bump wasn’t as large as the torque bump from E-85. I dropped $950 for a new carb witch was perfect out of the box, float levels and idle mixture was all all I had to do. I need to have a converter built yet I’m going to go against recommendations and tap some of the torque a little lower in the rpm range for street driving.
Nice !!!!!
Do you have a good Convertor Guy?
If not? I would recommend Dice.. Jeff is awesome !!!!!
